More Information
What is the Green Card Lottery?
The Green Card Lottery is a yearly program run by the U.S. Department of State (DOS), which distributes 50,000 permanent resident cards (Green Cards) to people from country that have low immigration numbers to the United States.
While the requirements for registering in the program are very strict, they are relatively simple. In order to be eligible, applicants need to be from a country with a low immigration rate to the United States and have the equivalent of a high school education.
The prize of the lottery is highly valuable. Permanent residents (Green Card holders) of the United States can live and work in the U.S. indefinitely. They can also eventually apply for citizenship and help their relatives get Green Cards too.
How do I apply?
Registering for the Green Card Lottery through the Department of State is free, but rejections are frequent and the DOS does not notify you if there is an error on your application.
In order to apply, you visit the Department of State’s Diversity Visa website in October and file online. You enter your information and hit submit and if your application has no errors, it’s accepted for the lottery.
What does the service do?
USAGreenCardLottery.org is the best way to make sure that your application won’t be rejected for errors before you even make it to the lottery drawing. The services they provide include:
Phone and email support. If you have any problems when applying for the Green Card Lottery you can call or email for help. There is no support line for the application through the DOS. Photo validation. Many applications are rejected because the photos applicants send in do not meet the strict DOS requirements. However, USAGreenCardLottery.org will notify you if your photo is not up to the rigorous details.
Application review. All applications are examined in person to make sure that it’s ready for submission to the DOS Diversity Visa program.
